what if you sapped all of the simplicity and great design from the original ao oni, and replaced it with obtuse obnoxious puzzle design that required you to read lore that sounds like it's from a 4th graders ao oni fan fiction.Just play the orignial game it's much better.
I know I am late, but I made a lil playthrough of this game a couple of years back and I just wanted to say, that this was fantastic. I felt so nostalgic and good about it, that I reinstalled it again to play it!
Hey ungodly, I got a question about the game; well before I ask, jfyi I'll be using the comments section here for all my questions related to Ao Oni R, because YouTube was turning into discord/whatsapp because of me asking questions about the game regularly
so here is my query:
I played the game and did what is required to get the Perfect/Rebirth ending but got Azalea instead. Anna, Mika and Takeshi were alive which is what I'm supposed to ensure before casting the sealing spell to make Takuro survive but he didn't, what possibly went wrong? I had perfected the runs as well - the fire and knife duel, InBetween boss without dying or taking damage but still got Azalea instead; is it like Perfect can only be gotten on higher difficulties or without cheats? My difficulty in the gameplay was easy and cheat codes used were HiroshiM and Happy
I don't think leaving Takuro to the roaches in the lab has anything to do with it (hopefully). Also did you scoop him up at the end when the inbetween was collapsing by interacting with his body?
So not picking up Takuro was why I got Azalea, loaded the save file and got Perfect, ty for the help
So that is also an inspiration from White Day I guess, leaving So-Young in the maze, one different choice gives a much different ending; and just leaving Takuro in there can turn a Perfect attempt into Azalea
Casting the sealing spell without making sure of everyone's survival also would turn the ending to Azalea
That makes Azalea one of the easiest to get endings, with other easy ones being Oxalis and Narcissus
Well not gonna explain why Oxalis and Narcissus are easy because it would make my comment too long and that info is perhaps not required
once again ty for the help and all other help you have provided me with the game, no component of Ao Oni R stands unexplored now
About leaving Takuro to the roaches, I tried that as well, it would strand the player's progress in the game because if Takuro died to the roaches he would not leave behind the vinegar which he does, so there will be no way to get the Iron Gate Key
I tried to find the vinegar but to no avail
Edit: So the way to find the vinegar is step over Takuro and get it, also you're right leaving him to the roaches has got nothing to do with his fate on whether he lives or dies
Hi once again ungodly, this time I have not a question but 2(3, check edit) suggestions for your game:-
1. Add more ramblings for HiroshiM:
There is just one rambling which is when Markiplier sees ao oni for the first time in the library
There are several punch lines in his ao oni series you can use and set it to such that a random rambling plays per random/unscripted chase
Also fix some ramblings to be played for scripted chases for example in the lab chase where either Takeshi or Mika are dead, there will be Ao oni from behind and Mika/Takeshi Oni from above, so this rambling can be played: "*Scream* Ah blondie windy windy windy windy!!oh crap oh that that's hardly fair what the hell I just got started"
Some more specific ramblings to be played suggestion for some scripted chases:
1. Fireplace ambush(Ao oni comes out of the fireplace): "*Scream* I got joke a problem what the hell get out of here man oh oh oh oh no oh no oh no no...(Slight pause) hang yourself fool hang yourself"
2. Takeshi Oni appears: "*Scream* Ah no he's blond he's blond 100"(Note: Markiplier pronounces second time as: Blau-au-au-aund)
3. You woke me up(Piano code chase):"Wow wow where'd you come from get out here no no no no no bro no what is it you come from you son of a bitch get out of here yeah and you know'
4. You left me for dead(Mika oni appears): *Scream* What ow what what what would I that is what you it in it you were a thingy oh that's not good I'm gonna do the same thing I did before except somehow I'm gonna do it better get out of here *scream* wow that's not fair"
You can choose ramblings from his ao oni playlist and random ones play during random encounters whereas specific ones play during scripted chase, the names I have given to some scripted chases are coined based on the reasons of the chase happening
I have a rambling for each scripted chase, if you are more interested I can give you those and also share clips containing those moments from Markiplier's videos
Some ramblings cryptically give hints to players which is a side benefit and the punch lines become even funnier when the gameplay doesn't coordinate with the ramblings for example in 4th one Markiplier uses a trick which works only in Ao Oni but not in Ao Oni R as all onis directly jump down instead of coming from the staircase
If you liked the suggestion and are more interested, do tell me
Thx
2. Add cheat codes where other characters are playable with those gameplays having their own script and endings
I have a gameplay for Takuro which is currently WIP but I have formed a script upto the piano chase, if you are interested you can ask me for the script so far
You may try adding at least that one with at least one ending if not all because I can understand your workload as you have a channel to manage as well
Edit: I have one more suggestion I almost forgot about
3. Add a new difficulty called Practice mode
Conditions: Scripted chases only
It means that there will be no random encounters during the game and only scripted chases will take place, which gives the player the freedom to explore the mansion and solve the puzzles without having to face the wrath/beware of ao oni at the same time, this feature will be useful to those who are not very good at gaming or have weak puzzle solving skills
I know they can just look up the solutions on YouTube but some people want to get the original thrilling feel of solving puzzles, but there are some who find it too much to keep saving the game regularly, try hard to solve puzzles and escape ao oni at the same time
I'm not one of them but I know what it feels like, after all there are 2-3 horror games even I'm not good at; I have also met people who face this
This mode would also given an opportunity to players for exploring the secrets hidden in the game freely
However, players are not completely safe from death, because as mentioned, scripted chases will still occur and players can die from other killer instances such as blob oni crushing them to death if they are caught under it, pressing the button in the shrine room without inserting the red gem, not locking jail cells before picking up items which will cause the oni to rush in resulting in an instant game over
The number of saves a player can have in practice mode are also limited, to decide that I used this formula/logic:
Let's take the total number of scripted chases which involve only Ao Oni and Fuwatti/Blockman but not Mika Oni or Takeshi Oni(Presuming the Perfect end route)
It is 10, if I have counted correctly
Divide by 3, 10/3 = 3 saves only
If someone tries to save the 4th time, then give a game over and delete the save file they were trying to save in(This is a penalty)
All these penalties are to ensure that Practice mode doesn't become Baby mode
Another penalty is that when the text "Ready to Go?" appears which is said by either Hiroshi or Takuro and the player clicks Yes, then don't show anything any further and show a blacked out screen with the following text written in bloody red letters:
"You beat the game on practice mode"
(2 line space)
"To find out what happens next/what the endings are, play the game on a higher difficulty"
(At the bottom of the screen:)
"Press space to continue"
Then roll the credits
At the end show this note:
"Congratulations on beating the game on Practice, now try to escape on higher difficulties, while facing Ao Oni's wrath"
~ungodly
Other notes about this suggestion for your reference:
I recommend not showing the code for the RAR file, your intention was to make players work hard to get the code, so let it remain for higher difficulties
It's your choice, I'm just recommending
The option to save a completed game will still be there if the person has not used up his limited 3 saves, which makes it hard to get the advantage of having the closet key for the changing room
Even if they get it, it is no big loss as the changing room is just for fanciness
This is to avoid throwing out the endings for free, as people can use practice mode to speedrun the game and get the desired endings without effort they deserve to apply
Unless people read this message, they won't know about the penalties which will make sure Practice mode remains balanced, especially for people trying it first time
For experts at the game, practice mode can still be a good difficulty for timepass
PS : About the "ready to go" part, there is one exception I must cover to avoid confusion. If a person is following Iris route then that option doesn't appear and the player is just supposed to run off from the mansion, but in Practice mode, remove that scripted chase so that the "Ready to Go?" option can still appear so that the bloody red text can still be displayed, I'm not sure if there is a way to not remove the scripted chase and end the game abruptly at that part at the same time. This also makes sure that there is still one hidden scripted chase to still keep some difficulty of the game on Easy - Hell modes
Sorry for the incredibly long message and I hope you like my suggestion/s
Hey ungodly. Just want to let ya know I was doing a screenshot LP thread of Ao oni games. Sadly the thread died out do to real life issues at the time. But I did cover Ao Oni R completely before it did.
This was a good read, despite being shit on almost every post the humor was still great. Will plop my comments below as I go through the thread. This should give some backstory to some of the more questionable choices I made for the development.
The 'bug' where the face shows up for a frame before the text was actually my doing. The speech bubble system was being weird when it changes between each text system (bubble and normal) for the first box that showed. Bit of a band aid fix but I made the first text box auto end without any text for a work around.
The retro costume is actually Hiroshi's outfit from version 1.1 of Ao Oni. Thanks for that bug fix in the Tatami room, can't believe I overlooked something like that (also misspelling 'guard' so much, I did fix most of them after Neco's videos). Got both fixed on my computer now.
The deal with Rose and being naked is a simple one - I found the base model but didn't finish the edits to it by the time I decided to launch the game. I did attempt to edit it to match the artwork but my skills in that department are not great so I just left it. The Mika transformation and chimney scenes are great feedback. I originally wanted basic animated cutscenes in the game but my friend had a hectic work schedule then. Now, who knows - his art has improved significantly and he's at I think three days a week. Another reason the animations were hard to do was because they are RPG Maker XP sprites being used in VX Ace with a script that can accept larger sprites. This causes problems trying to set them in the right positions to make the animation happen.
Yes, there is indeed meant to be a roof outside, little awkward to portray that. Moving on. The bug with the Oni at the start of the Annex was fixed I think (well it's the same code as the other rooms, so it could be tile related (seems to happen sometimes where the AI would get stuck on a part and I'd need to repaint a room) The Annex gave me the most problems designing. Oh! The doll head on the light bulb bug, thanks for that, also done a fix on my end, to the Labs!
The breaker puzzle idea is actually taken almost entirely from Dino Crisis, was a little nod to one of my favorite games. For the picture book, again, I wanted it all redrawn but never got around to doing it and the original still had its charm. The original version I made was around three times longer in text and much more edgy before I cut down a lot of the meat. I believe a sprinkle of M Night levels works for Ao Oni, it's always about the cheese!
Outside - The tombstone poem is by P. B. Shelley, and one of my favorite poets (he was the husband to Mary - Frankenstein's writer). It surprisingly matched with the puzzle so I used it. Essentially this was the second insert of something I love.
Ah that 'c' word, it also didn't sit right with me, so don't worry. It was originally part of the older script mentioned above and then I left it in as a joke at the end. While it is disturbing, I realized that and the scene with the doctor were great conveyers at how the Oni's influence changes people - and it could also be debatable if it is happening to the doctor as well as the other workers or if they are truly evil pricks.
I wanted to convey a sense of hopelessness through disgust and using taboo, which seems to have worked (especially in the thread I'm getting a chuckle). Been constantly debating about changing it though, but never did. It could have been a lot worse as I almost included worse examples - such as cannibalism in the catacombs and the 'n' word in the labs/mortuary. So that's basically the reasoning, not because of fetishes or whatever.
The Shun reveal - I originally wanted to have some clue in the basement that points to it, but with the lighting it was just too dark to enjoy. Actually, just checked the project and there was indeed a hint at the bottom of the basement stairs. Either I put that there later or it just isn't very visible.
Okay, I lost it at the Smiling Friends edit, genius. *chef's kiss*
Finally the perfect ending artwork was originally a placeholder but it just stayed, was meant to include much more original art in the game.
"Maybe the body is mindless, but the mind is still somewhere in this case in red head." You said it perfectly - the Oni is like a husk that can't control its actions but is still along for the ride - it relies on its head space to try and talk to others to help it, but eventually the summoning curse infects the people it tries to use. As for why didn't everyone inside the Jailhouse forget people who died? I guess you could say being protags gave them plot armor? It's a good bit of feedback though, so maybe they were just simply immune while inside the Jailhouse?
I'm sure if I did heavily change parts of the game to exclude the stuff that made the original a fan favorite I also would have copped some flack for not having it. Also on testing - I did try to get some playtesters but people just never seemed interested in helping me during development. I had to basically complete almost everything so I couldn't find all bugs and grammar errors myself.
This answered everything I had on my mind. Thanks for the insight. I'll bump the thread to mention this post so everyone can see the though process behind parts. Thanks again.
Also just cranked out a bunch of changes for the future thanks to your feedback, I'll have to go through them again but am up to adjusting stuff after the catacombs again (the annoying part of the story) also managed to actually make a decent looking sprite which you'll be pleased with.
Video's unavailable as of now, and the update hasn't seen release. Been meaning to ask if you lost interest in the project, if there were larger issues, or life was just getting in the way.
Do you have any socials through which you could be contacted, I wanted to pursue some more conversation about the game and a comment thread doesn't seem like the best place for that.
Haven't lost interest, just other things and life getting in the way.
In terms of progress - main game has been looked over a few times with some playthroughs, fixed bugs in some spots and notes were changed, added and rewritten to be more consistent. I've also been designing a few more unlockables and am waiting for my artist to get a move on with some things to spruce it up a little. DLC wise the main systems are made and almost everything is written out I just haven't been satisfied with how stuff came out for the Oni encounters. I did plan to show a gameplay trailer for Halloween or end of the year but that has seemed to fall through from waiting.
If you need to contact a bit more privately then I guess you can contact me at my youtube business email ungodlybusiness88@gmail.com
Has to stay free due to the IP being owned by a company and used in various mobile games. If I ever did manage to finish the dlc in this life time I would possibly consider releasing it on Steam, although there isn't really a point to do it :)
I was considering scrapping it entirely as I was focusing on growing my youtube channel but around October I started brainstorming ideas and completely started from scratch yet again. Surprisingly I have everything planned out - maps, items, story, endings, and enemies are almost locked in.
I don't want to spoil anything for if I do release it, but it is now a single DLC loosely based on Ao Oni S, and as for the 'tales' DLC, when you play the game the first objective is to find each of your friends. When you find each friend, they are available to use as a partner and can complete their tale, which is a short story on what they did between the game and DLC.
I don't want to set any expectations but maybe towards the end of the year something might appear, maybe.
Pretty good game! Keep getting stuck in the Annex though, because I can’t see any statue to push down the stairs, and I haven’t found any guides online to help. The puzzles are pretty hard, which is a good thing! And I love that the remake/reboot/retelling has updated graphics and additional content. It’s always nice to see a developer still paying attention to a game after its initial release.
Nevermind! I didn’t think of grabbing the red gem after using it to open the case.
Anyway, this seems like a game that could easily hide a lot of secrets. Any chance I could get a list? I’m a completionist who likes to experience everything a game has to offer.
The blue key is still a softlock. Me and my bf were playing and we already put the key in the lock, so we can't pick it back up or reuse the rope. We can't do anything to progress and we can't put the key back because it's not in our inventory. What should we do?
I think I get what you mean now. You mean at the exit with the three doors? If the rope was placed in solitary, it should always be able to be collected/climbed or climbed. There should be no way to get trapped in that room unless I didn't update it properly. Try this file - it's the one I was editing the game with so it may be a bit of a mess. You can copy your save game file over by going to the main folder and copying Save01.rvdata2, Save02.rvdata2 etc to the new folder. https://www.mediafire.com/file/67r05rmez47vevr/Ao+Oni+R.exe/file
If it still does it I'll see if I can make some adjustments.
Alright, try this one. I made it so you can always climb the rope and have to collect it from the top instead of solitary, and I also made it so you can take back any of the three blue keys in the exit area as long as you haven't used all three there. https://www.mediafire.com/file/z9cagatjnfld8b1/Ao_Oni_R.exe/file
Not sure about that, did you install the RTP first? Also it could be muted in the volume mixer or not enabled in the debug menu. Press F1 when the game is running to bring up the debug menu.
thanks for the help. I'm not use to having to check the debug menu when I play games that I download. so I really appreciate the help and I can't wait to play this awesome looking game.
Great Game but i have a question for you. How can you unlock the room near the bedroom in the second floor and the room near the laundry? I played the game 4 times but still cant unlock it..
Second floor is for when you start a new game plus (load up a completed game save) which gives the ability to change costumes, and the laundry is simply a locked door/back door to outside (not used for anything)
Surprisingly my video on my channel is nearing 30k views, had 2.5k downloads so it was pretty successful in my opinion. I had another 2k downloads before I didn't know how to use this site properly and replaced the download so it's around 4-5k downloads including gamejolt.
And what can I say... it was amazing. Challenging puzzles, interesting story and multiple endings (3 done, 2 more to go). On my first try I got Oxalis and D rank D:
5 stars. By the way another question for the puzzle:
.

.
Last part of the game, that one with shadows where you had to put statues and light. There were 3 shapes that translated to the code -045.
The puzzles in this one are quite hard lol. I wanted to ask - is there like text explanation of all puzzles? Like I just stumbled upon the clock puzzle and [Spoilers ahead] .

I am kinda confused. The book that lists deaths have 0, 3, 5, 1 numbers colored. After thinking for a bit I checked your walkthrough and the answer is 03:15... Did I missed some note that explains the order?
Piano - Combine Handkerchief and Soap and wipe the piano, avoid the Oni that will drop down and then go back and investigate. Looking at the message of the sun and moon the code it is the third number rotating while the second sits still, then the third number passes it only as its equal - only the second and third numbers are used - the third number rotates while the second is the same and then the third is used again only without rotating, then the final number would be what wasn't used.
Shrine - Use the Red Gem to get the Old Key. Take it back after.
Clock Room - The order of the red numbers are based on the dates of the deaths in order.
BASEMENT
The lighter can make hidden items shimmer when near them on the shelves in the starting room. The cage room should have its light lit and door closed, then look at the right of the door for the code to the safe.
ANNEX
Head to the attic and get the lighter fluid, then back down to the 1F and into the kitchen and use the lighter, grabbing the rotten meat from the fridge and push the dumbwaiter button to send it to the 2F. Grab the guest room key from the dumb waiter and light bulb from the lamp.
The 2F outside balcony has the code from Jeff for his room box to get powder, as well as the grams needed for the explosive. 1.25 The fireplace can be lit and the doll burned to get the Yellow Gem, and the attic will now have a number etched in you need. The doll is in the North Hall left room (Jeff's Room) and one of its eyes sparkle.
In the North Hall right side door, put the Yellow Gem into the doll there and turn off the light, then take the doll head and replace it with the lightbulb to reveal a hidden door. Back in Jeff's room, use the doll head to reveal the safe and then the code from the attic to open the safe and get the basement key.
LAB
Move the shelf to the left of the door to reveal a panel. Use the star screw driver to open it and solve the puzzle (third, first, second) to restore power. Also get the picture book on the shelf and check it for the bookmark.
Use the flathead on the door panel to undo it, then use the bookmark to figure out the door code (red, green, grey, blue)
Use vinegar on the red key from the tub room (drain the tub, push it from the top) to get the iron gate key and proceed down to the basement. Check the disc and follow its pattern to push the portraits correctly (red, yellow, yellow, blue, yellow, red) to get metal stick. Combine it with the disc to get the catacombs key.
In the catacombs grab a bunch of gun powder (you can measure it later in Jeff's room with his scales and what the note said) Combine the powder and gun powder for explosive.
OLD BUILDING (Great to explore and figure out this area on your own)
Medical Room - Push the statue and torch from the exit into the room, gold statue is left, silver right and use the flame on each side and take note of the sides of each shape.
I absolutely loved this game. My only problem with it is that... It's kinda way too easy to save everyone!
It should be challenging to save all the characters. For example, it's actually kinda hard to save Mika, specially if you played the original and go investigate the 2th floor after her scream. It's very well done, in my opinion!
Everyone else, tho... They just die if you want to!
That was what I was going for, to give the player the freedom to decide.
Mika was an odd case since in the original she died and became an oni in the basement, so that created ~6 conditions just by the time you reached the basement. The other deaths were actually placeholders but I really liked how they flowed towards the end of development that I kept them. It also burned me out on how buggy her conditions become with all the events that it wore me down trying to fix them.
As for the game, I've tried to work on the DLC and restarted several times from scratch, but I'm just having trouble getting it to a point I like, so I'll probably not release it (sorry)
On the plus side, I have a first draft design completed of a new horror game which I'm happy with as well as two very early survival horror games and a short oc horror titled Floss. I've also been toying with ideas to start an R version of Ao Oni School Nightmare, but that's just thoughts really.
I always have the right amount of powder but nothing happens afterwards, I can not mix it, I do not know if it's a bug or it's something I'm doing wrong.
I really love playing this game. But I just have a problem, whenever I soft reset with F12, the next time I try to load a save file or start a new game, the game will close because of an error that says "bitmap disposed"?
Sorry, that's a little set back due to the lighting engine that was used, but it was a good trade off. You'll just have to close and reopen the game or load from the menu in game.
okay so, im stuck in this weird gun powder puzzle where you have to measure it to a suitable amount, and i just cant understand it, can someone please help
okay, so i dont know if this is a bug or a glitch, but in the old building when you have to combine a rope with a hook in order to get a blue key and climb out, i discovered that before doing that i had to use the rope and the hook to get the study key thats stuck in one of the jailcells, but the thing is, i used the rope and the hook to get the blue key in the basement before getting the study key, and now i cant take back the rope and the hook to advance. so now im stuck and cant do anything unless a replay the entire game again.
The bug I believe is the same as mentioned below, I recently hotfixed it. Also If you stand in front of the area where you picked up the blue key and then select it from the inventory, you can place the key again to unlock the door.
I think I've found a bug or at least a softlock in the game. If you use the rope and hook in the solitary room and deposit the blue key prior to getting the key within the cells, you can't pick up the hook and rope without getting trapped. Beyond that, if you choose to collect the rope and hooke, you get locked in the room, unable to rope up again or open the door. This is the only game breaking bug I've seen up to this point with some collision errors but those aside this is a fantastic remake!
Oh god, just when I thought I was finally done with the bugs lol. Thanks for the report, I'll look over it in the next day or two. I'm glad you like the game, it means a lot.
I am at the part where you can go into the basement, yet everytime Mika screams and gets killed. How do I get Mika to, y'know, not die? It's really bugging me and I want to complete the game with a perfect ending.
It has some bugs, which I'm in the process of fixing but, the way it works is:
You need to ignore the scream and just enter the basement, but there are conditions to it.
-When you hear Mika scream, checking the second floor in the room will always get her killed -If you enter the basement after the scream without a) having Anna alive, or b) getting the compression kit, then Mika will die -If Anna is alive, but you don't get Mika the compression kit, she will survive with Anna's help _but_ die towards the end of the game because of her ankle in an alternate/hidden death (my favorite death)
In short, to save Mika, you need to get her the compression kit for her ankle, which can be found in the left hall bathroom where the hiding spot/toilet is and just continue entering the basement after you hear the scream.
Sorry for the late reply, doubt you're still stuck by now but if you are:
Red Gem goes into the case in the room next to the basement door (undo the panel with the screwdriver). That will get you the key for the Rumpus Room on the third floor of the mansion.
I just can't find the way to get the perfect ending... I know it's probably connected to the spell somehow, but I still can't find it... It was a great game regardless! I was a big fan of the original game, but it always bugged me how there was no option to save the gang. Now I can finally make the dream come true :^) This is also beyond amazing for a fan game, I'd even go as far as saying it's better than the original. Bigger map, more story, alive friends... What more can one ask for?
I'm so glad you liked it. The perfect ending involves needing all six character cards as well as the spell. You get a character card for saving a character from a certain predicament.
There's also lots of stuff to discover, such as an unlockable hell mode for finishing hard, alternate costumes for Hiroshi and several cheats (which can be found in a notepad file in the install folder) Also two fun easter eggs are constantly clicking on the bathroom door before you first encounter the Oni as well as an alternate Mika death scene (which is my favorite) in the basement of the Old Building (Save Anna but don't get Mika the compression kit)

what if you sapped all of the simplicity and great design from the original ao oni, and replaced it with obtuse obnoxious puzzle design that required you to read lore that sounds like it's from a 4th graders ao oni fan fiction.Just play the orignial game it's much better.
No I hadn't done that, am I supposed to go near his body and click space/enter i.e. interact with it? I'll try doing it now
So not picking up Takuro was why I got Azalea, loaded the save file and got Perfect, ty for the help
Note: Very long message ahead
Hi once again ungodly, this time I have not a question but 2(3, check edit) suggestions for your game:-
1. Add more ramblings for HiroshiM:
There is just one rambling which is when Markiplier sees ao oni for the first time in the library
There are several punch lines in his ao oni series you can use and set it to such that a random rambling plays per random/unscripted chase
Also fix some ramblings to be played for scripted chases for example in the lab chase where either Takeshi or Mika are dead, there will be Ao oni from behind and Mika/Takeshi Oni from above, so this rambling can be played:
"*Scream* Ah blondie windy windy windy windy!!oh crap oh that that's hardly fair what the hell I just got started"
But I did cover Ao Oni R completely before it did.
https://kiwifarms.net/threads/lets-look-at-most-of-the-versions-of-ao-oni-1-vers... (OP)
Ao oni R starts here.
https://kiwifarms.net/threads/lets-look-at-most-of-the-versions-of-ao-oni-1-vers...
I would love to know your thoughts on my coverage of it.
Finally it seems you like Ridge's art, you can find his twitter here - https://twitter.com/lowis_ridge and his artstation here https://www.artstation.com/ridge_lowis I don't think he uses instagram anymore.
Sorry for the long reply. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
Thank you!
And what does this have to do with a LP's about a fangame about a giant blue man chasing kids around a mansion to eat them?
The LP could be on twitter, youtube, or reddit and what you just said could still apply to those websites as well. So it's a real non issue here.
Again Same could be said of any of the major websites. Take this nonsense somewhere other then this poor man's Itch.io page.
Will it ever be released on Steam? I'd gladly pay money for this lol
Has to stay free due to the IP being owned by a company and used in various mobile games. If I ever did manage to finish the dlc in this life time I would possibly consider releasing it on Steam, although there isn't really a point to do it :)
that was really good
I'm stuck on the piano puzzle code because I keep thinking that the symbols on the safe are the numbers but upside down
IT'S RAPING TIME.
Sorry, sorry couldn't resist, especially with the knowledge that someone unofficially remade Ao Oni.
Hey Ungodly! I love ao oni R very much and I myself would love to play more of it!
Can I ask you a questions am sorry if it sound rude!
1.When will the 2 DLC (Alternate Outcome and Tales) release?
2.Will the sequel (R version of Ao Oni S) get release?
That's all questions if you have any updates about it please reply and good luck with your work try to rest too!
Sorry for the late reply -
I was considering scrapping it entirely as I was focusing on growing my youtube channel but around October I started brainstorming ideas and completely started from scratch yet again.
Oh thanks for the reply! I wish you a good luck with the project and I hope I didn't rush you with the questions I ask.
I hope you have a nice day and take great care of your health too! I will be waiting for you game so take the times as long as you need!
And one last thing thanks for replying me back. (Even though it's late am fine as long as you answer me so thank you so much.)
THAT WAS THE BEST!!! I want a translate to turkish this game
The blue key is still a softlock. Me and my bf were playing and we already put the key in the lock, so we can't pick it back up or reuse the rope. We can't do anything to progress and we can't put the key back because it's not in our inventory. What should we do?
I have the same issue... I'm still in the end of the game, and I'm stucking now with this softlock.
Any solution? Thx
Many Thx buddy, but doesn't work... I can't get back neither rope nor blue key. Same issues... :-/
Nice ! <3 It does work fine! Now I can finish this beautiful game. <3 <3 <3
Sorry... I'm back again :-/
When I got back the rope+hook, I managed to get the Study Key in the Cells but can't...
I've just re-install old version of Ao Oni R (1.19b) with my new save (Rope+hook in my backpack) and then I can reach it with the rope!
Many Thanks!
pretty nice recreation of the game. for some reason though, i feel like it would be a funny easter egg if the monster had oneyng's head on
Wait, so is the entire game fully remade?
hello when i open the game there is no audio. so i want to know how to fix that so i can play this game
I will run this on windows xp
When the DLCS will be released?
How many characters will be in the game? Will there be more characters, like Honoka?
Great Game but i have a question for you. How can you unlock the room near the bedroom in the second floor and the room near the laundry? I played the game 4 times but still cant unlock it..
Second floor is for when you start a new game plus (load up a completed game save) which gives the ability to change costumes, and the laundry is simply a locked door/back door to outside (not used for anything)
On a second note - sad that your version didn't get much attention. I wish more popular youtubers played it.
Surprisingly my video on my channel is nearing 30k views, had 2.5k downloads so it was pretty successful in my opinion. I had another 2k downloads before I didn't know how to use this site properly and replaced the download so it's around 4-5k downloads including gamejolt.
So yeah I completed the game :D
And what can I say... it was amazing. Challenging puzzles, interesting story and multiple endings (3 done, 2 more to go). On my first try I got Oxalis and D rank D:
5 stars. By the way another question for the puzzle:
.

Last part of the game, that one with shadows where you had to put statues and light. There were 3 shapes that translated to the code -045.
One is missing. How do I know the first digit?
In the solitary room where one of the blue keys are (that shuts the door when taken) on the table. Use the lighter to see the number.
thanks for answer
[Yes, I am THAT dumb.]
The puzzles in this one are quite hard lol.
I wanted to ask - is there like text explanation of all puzzles? Like I just stumbled upon the clock puzzle and [Spoilers ahead]
.
.
.
.
I am kinda confused. The book that lists deaths have 0, 3, 5, 1 numbers colored. After thinking for a bit I checked your walkthrough and the answer is 03:15... Did I missed some note that explains the order?
It's not quite every puzzle, but should help.
MANSION
Thank you so much!
Love the game, hope to see more from you in the future :3
I might download this game and stream it on Twitch sometime. Never streamed Ao Oni before, but I might play this as a good return!
Have fun, just try to ignore my crappy spelling and grammar lol
Aight lol
I absolutely loved this game. My only problem with it is that... It's kinda way too easy to save everyone!
It should be challenging to save all the characters. For example, it's actually kinda hard to save Mika, specially if you played the original and go investigate the 2th floor after her scream. It's very well done, in my opinion!
Everyone else, tho... They just die if you want to!
Anyway, are you still working on the game? :3
Ohhh, that's really interesting! I would love to play an remake of Ao Oni S! Which characters would be in the game, you think?
Anyway, that makes sense to me. I thought you were going for something like Until Dawn, where saving everyone is hard lol
But anyway, thanks for this incredible game! :3
What about an Ao Oni 2 R?
Since Ao Oni 2 is a mobile game, the controls are kinda awful, plus the game is on portrait for some reason.
Idk, I think it would be cool to see.
A lot of RM Chinese games nowadays. :/
I always have the right amount of powder but nothing happens afterwards, I can not mix it, I do not know if it's a bug or it's something I'm doing wrong.
Will you add South Park Mode?
Stuck on statue puzzle in the old building and need help. Can you tell me about the gold and silver statues?
Push the statue and the torch from the exit area into the medical room. put them on the correct color and push the torch on either block below it.
Ahh this seems so cool! I look forward to playing this.
I'm actually in the middle of reading the Ao Oni novels, so it excites me to see a game that will feature Shun and Anna!
Stuck on statue puzzle in the old building and need help. Can you tell me about the gold and silver statues?
okay so, im stuck in this weird gun powder puzzle where you have to measure it to a suitable amount, and i just cant understand it, can someone please help
Easiest way is to put only one powder on the scales and then fiddle with the weights until it says both are equal.
Once you know how much a single gunpowder weighs you can then use basic math to measure out what the note on the 2F balcony wants you to measure.
okay, so i dont know if this is a bug or a glitch, but in the old building when you have to combine a rope with a hook in order to get a blue key and climb out, i discovered that before doing that i had to use the rope and the hook to get the study key thats stuck in one of the jailcells, but the thing is, i used the rope and the hook to get the blue key in the basement before getting the study key, and now i cant take back the rope and the hook to advance. so now im stuck and cant do anything unless a replay the entire game again.
-When you hear Mika scream, checking the second floor in the room will always get her killed
-If you enter the basement after the scream without a) having Anna alive, or b) getting the compression kit, then Mika will die
-If Anna is alive, but you don't get Mika the compression kit, she will survive with Anna's help _but_ die towards the end of the game because of her ankle in an alternate/hidden death (my favorite death)
In short, to save Mika, you need to get her the compression kit for her ankle, which can be found in the left hall bathroom where the hiding spot/toilet is and just continue entering the basement after you hear the scream.
Brilliant! All checks out! Thanks so much, and happy new year!
Ignore the scream? So how did our character showing up cause her death? Did our yummy life force lead it to her?
Ok i'm on the basement part and i got a red gem, i don't know what the fuck to do with it. I think i'm stuck, help anyone?
Sorry for the late reply, doubt you're still stuck by now but if you are:
Red Gem goes into the case in the room next to the basement door (undo the panel with the screwdriver). That will get you the key for the Rumpus Room on the third floor of the mansion.
I have no idea on how to make explosive chemical. I have Gun powder and Powder
You need the correct amount of gun powder measured at the scales in the Doll Makers room (North Hall of the Annex)
The amount you need is revealed on the 2F Balcony of the Annex in a note. (through the Dining Room)
It's just a matter of figuring out what each chunk of gunpowder is worth.
Thank you so much
I just can't find the way to get the perfect ending...
